7:15 a.m. Alarm goes off for the first time. Hit snooze.

7:30 a.m. Alarm goes off again. Roll out of bed, stumble toward the bathroom to get ready.

8:00 a.m. Done getting ready, still working on getting awake. Time for coffee and breakfast, which was a celebration of Chocolate Breakfast Friday!

Consumed: Oats with vanilla. Topped with a banana, chocolate-hazelnut butter and a few dark chocolate chips.

8:30 a.m. Walk to campus, with the pleasant surprise of seeing Dan along the way.

9:00 a.m. Arrive right in time for “First Amendment” class.

9:50 a.m. Steam whistle blows (KU classic), signaling the end of class. More on to “Protests and Revolutions.”

10:50 a.m. Another blow of the whistle means class is over. For the day. Meaning, for the weekend. Except, there is still more work to be done in the newsroom, so I couldn’t yet declare freedom.

Noon Lunchtime, lunchtime, lunchtime.

Consumed: Flat Out wrap with hummus, honey mustard glazed tofu, roasted red peppers, carrot and sunflower seeds. Raspberry yogurt.

1:30 p.m. Finish up in the newsroom, albeit later than expected. Head straight over to Dan’s to fit in Friday cross-training, aka bike riding!

1:45 p.m. Head out for a ride along the Kansas River. Find a cool trail and go off-road biking.

3:00 p.m. Grab my backpack from Dan’s, ride my bike home, take quick shower and get ready for…

4:00 p.m. Start cooking for another dinner in the scholarship hall.

5:00 p.m. Get my Mexican brownies in the oven and start chopping up vegetables for fajitas. I sliced up green peppers, red peppers, mushrooms and onions. While I was doing that, I had a non-stick skillet heating on high. Remove pan from heat, cover it evenly with olive oil, add peppers and return to heat. Stir it all together. After a few minutes, add onions and mushrooms. Allow it all to saute until well-done. Add chopped garlic, remove from heat, add salt and pepper. Enjoy!

5:45 p.m. Get everything ready for serving. On the menu: Tacos, fajita vegetables, black beans, vegetarian refried beans, tomatoes, romaine lettuce, cheddar cheese, tortillas chips and pears.

6:00 p.m. Dinner is served!

Consumed: Fajita vegetables, black beans, tomatoes, tortilla chips and cheese.

6:20 p.m. And then it’s time for dessert.

6:45 p.m. Walk downtown to watch the KU basketball game at BW3’s.

8:30 p.m. Cut our losses and head home at half-time. More accurately, head home at one minute and 40 second before halftime, when Southern Mississippi scored another touchdown. I don’t really want to talk about it…

10:00 p.m. Go over to my friend’s very crowded housewarming party. Hope to get a breath of fresh air, go out to the deck, realize it is slanted and start to fear for my life.

11:30 p.m. Head back to Dan’s for a little bit, but go home before too late. Knowing there was a fun eight-mile jog in the morning, I decided to get a little sleep. It was nice, although a little unfamiliar.

I enjoying going to church, taking time for long runs and spending time far, far away from school. This weekend has been pretty standard, except for the party I went to. It was fun, but I’m just not much of a “party person.”
