Friday + ABCs of me

Man, this seems like one of the longest weeks ever — And the most pathetic part of it was that my schedule wasn’t even that difficult! Dan, on the other hand, had a four tests and just about as many hours of sleep. Why is it that his hectic week also affects me?

I guess there is some reason behind my exhaustion: I completed a 6.35 “hilly as heck” run! Usually, I do my long runs on the weekend, but we have a fresh wave of winter weather moving through and I couldn’t stand the thought for six miles on the treadmill.

When Dan finally got off school, we drove right out to the town we are getting married in to attend to some business. We even decided on our rehearsal dinner site! (I’ll expound on that soon!)

Back in Lawrence, we picked up “The Soloist” from Redbox and went back to my place for a delicious roasted peppers and goat cheese quiche dinner. The plan was the start the movie, but Dan has decided to take an impromptu nap. Not only does he deserve the rest, but this also gives me the chance to fill out the “ABCs About Me” survey that’s been floating around the blogosphere.

A. Age: 20 years — Yeah, I’m a young one!

B. Bed size: Queen, which is huge for just me, but I imagine will be kind of “small” next year!

C. Chore you dislike: Vacuuming. I’ve never liked it!

D. Dogs: Sadly none of my own right now. My (11-year-old) “baby puppy,” Magger, died last summer. My roommate has a crazy little puppy, Lola, whom I get plenty of quality time with.

E. Essential start to your day: Breakfast! I need something in my stomach quickly after waking up!

F. Favorite color: My traditional answer is orange, but I also like blues and greens.

G. Gold or silver: Silver in 99 percent of cases.

H. Height: 5 feet 9 inches — I love being able to say I’m 6-feet tall with heels on!

I. Instruments you play(ed): Sadly, I have no musical inclinations. I had a short-lived stint with a keyboard, but Dan and I already decided I will be our family-band’s manager.

J. Job title: Professional student, aspiring journalist, blogger, freelance writer, etc.

K. Kids: Not for a long while…

L. Live: I’ve gotten a full-blown tour of the Midwest! I was born in Detroit, then moved to East Lansing. I left Michigan to move to Columbus, Ohio. I moved with my family to Lincoln, Nebraska during my sophomore year of high school. Now I’m in Lawrence, Kansas!

M. Mom’s name: Joanne Louise (my middle name namesake!)

N. Nicknames: Mimi, Em, Emmy Lou, etc.

O. Overnight hospital stays: None, thank goodness!

P. Pet peeves: Smacking gum, unnecessarily swearing, poor grammar, slow and distracted walkers and passive-aggressive behavior.

Q. Quote from a movie: “I’m in a glass case of emotion!” — Ron Burgundy, “Anchorman”

R. Righty or lefty: Total righty.

S. Siblings: Marian, 17.

T. Time you wake up: 6:30 throughout the week, 7:30 to 8:30 on the weekends.

U. Underwear: Yeah, I am familiar with that concept…

V. Vegetables you dont’ like: I really, really like vegetables. I actually don’t think I’ve tried okra, but I decided I don’t like it because my mom always talked about how much she dislikes it. Guess I’m easily swayed!

W. What makes you run late: I try to avoid running late at all costs — My philosophy is, “If you’re not early, you’re late!”

X. X-rays you’ve had: Can’t entirely remember. I think I had one when I got hit by a car when I was riding my bike (that’s another story for another day)! Fortunately, everything was ok!

Y. Yummy food you make: Depends on the day! I love picking up new kitchen skills and expanding my repertoire! Check out my “Edibles” page for more details!

Z. Zoo animal favorites: Ethically, I’m not a big fan of zoos. If I have to choose a favorite animal in the world, I’d say wolves with black squirrels as the runners-up!

Questions: Did you learn anything new/surprising about me? What are some of your ABCs?
